The first crusade was in 1095 ! The reason why the first crusade happened was because a group of Arabs invaded jerusalum and closed the land to the Jewish and christians. The pope wasn't happy about this so he called to all the christains and jews to pick up there swords and fight for Jerusalem and there sins will be forgiven by God.
